Command & Conquer: Generals is a real-time strategy video game and the seventh installment in the Command & Conquer series. It was released for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS operating systems in 2003 and 2004. While the Windows version of Generals was developed by EA Pacific and published by EA Games, the Mac OS X version was developed and published by Aspyr Media. The Mac OS X version was re-released by Aspyr for the Mac App Store on March 12, 2005. Plot

Generals takes place in a speculative mid-2010s. Players are given a choice of three factions to play. In Generals, the United States and the People's Republic of China are the world's two superpowers, and are the targets of the Global Liberation Army (GLA), an omnipresent borderless terrorist organization, fighting as a fanatical irregular force. The United States and China are depicted as allies in the series who occasionally co-operate against the GLA, whose goal is to eliminate the military forces of China and the United States.

Aspyr Media Inc. on Friday announced plans to publish a Macintosh conversion of Command & Conquer Generals. This is the first installment of the hugely popular Command & Conquer series to appear on the Macintosh since the original version was released a number of years ago.

Command & Conquer Generals is a 3D real-time strategy game published for the PC by Electronic Arts. The game’s Macintosh conversion is being handled by i5works, the same company with whom Aspyr has previously collaborated to bring games like Ghost Recon Game of the Year Edition and SimCity 4 to the Macintosh. Aspyr noted that the game is already at its Alpha development milestone.

Command & Conquer Generals installs players as generals in control of high-tech armies that face off against each other on a global battlefield “teetering on the brink of Armageddon.” Players choose between the U.S. Army, the Chinese military or the fictional “Global Liberation Army,” each equipped with modern and near-future military weaponry. The game features a single-player campaign populated with 22 unique missions and an extensive multiplayer capability too.

Preliminary system requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2.6 or later; a 733MHz or faster CPU; 256MB RAM; 8x CD-ROM and 32MB ATI Radeon or Nvidia GeForce2 MX or better video card.
